Chapter 166
Crocodile discovers that the Straw Hat Pirates are still alive, but thanks to Mr. 2, he is able to take countermeasures so that Vivi and the rebels would not be able to meet each other. Meanwhile Vivi and Luffy start to dispute each other.
Luffy vs. Vivi
An old face interrupts Baroque Works meeting. It is no other than Mr. 3, who snuck in after the other members from Spiders Cafe. He came to be given another chance to defeat the Straw Hats. Crocodile is surprised by this revelation since, after the call from Little Garden, he assumed all of the Straw Hat Pirates and Vivi were dead as he was not aware that it was Sanji who answered the call and lied to him. Mr. 2 confirms that the Straw Hat Pirates and Vivi are alive since he met them on the way to Arabasta. With the help of his power, they are able to make pictures of the Straw Hats (omitting Sanji), and start to take counter measures so that they can prevent Vivi from meeting with the rebel leader, Koza. Disappointed with Mr. 3, instead of giving him a second chance, Crocodile dries him up and feeds him to his Bananawani.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Vivi's argument is intensifying. Luffy finds her naïve in wishing for no one to die. Upset, Vivi and Luffy start a fight until Luffy reveals his true intention: he wants Vivi to risk the life of her friends with her so that he can beat Crocodile, who is responsible for this situation.
Skill Crane
The episode starts at the Krusty Krab, a fish dressed in a suit comes to the door. Mr. Krabs believes him to be a tax collector, causing him to panic and jump inside SpongeBob with his cash register to try and escape until the man shows his business card, which identifies him as R.A. PennyPincher of Vending Supplies. Mr. Krabs is overjoyed as the delivery men bring the Skill Crane that he ordered for the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs explains that it will "pay for itself in no time" and insists that SpongeBob and Squidward try it, giving them each a free quarter.
Squidward plays the machine and almost picks up a stuffed snake, but drops it and loses. He excitedly exclaims to SpongeBob that he almost got a toy on his first try. When SpongeBob tries the machine, Squidward expects him to lose, but SpongeBob effortlessly wins two times, winning a stuffed animal with each try, which frustrates Squidward.
Later on, SpongeBob continues to win several more stuffed animals from the machine effortlessly. Squidward desperately tries to win. After running out of money, Mr. Krabs turns Squidward's paycheck into quarters and gives it to him. Even using his money from payday, he still does not win. At the same time, SpongeBob receives his regular paycheck.
When Squidward goes home, he finds he can't pick up anything because of the crane, and he caves in, convinced he must win. He puts his normal clothes back on, gets his piggy bank, and runs to the Krusty Krab and tries the crane over and over again until the next morning, but to no avail. Mr. Krabs then empties the machine and finds an enormous amount of Squidward's quarters, along with the deed to his house. SpongeBob tells Squidward that the secret to winning is to be the crane, and he wins a teddy bear and rubs it in everyone's face. He even viciously mocks a kid who just lost the game and the angry kid gives Squidward a well-deserved kick in the shin before storming out while Squidward hops up and down holding his shin in pain.
At the end of the day, Squidward walks home with SpongeBob and sees a construction site. He operates the unoccupied crane with his eyes closed, thinking he can control it, and picks up a girder, but he can't apply the same secret with that type of crane, resulting in the destruction of a mall the workers recently built. When Squidward realizes the destruction he had caused, he once again tries to "be the crane." As a result, he accidentally hits the workers with the girder, sends the machine into reverse, and the crane spins around while doing so. SpongeBob and the workers run from the crane. It ends up stopping after smashing the Krusty Krab into pieces. Squidward tries to get away, but soon finds himself surrounded by the angry construction workers. SpongeBob tries to rescue him with the crane, but only picks up Squidward's toy and he comes to the conclusion that he can only pick up toys as the episode ends with the angry construction workers getting ready to pummel up Squidward.
Kil'jaeden and the New Deal
Just as Ner'zhul and his followers entered the Twisting Nether – the ethereal plane that connects all of the worlds scattered throughout the Great Dark Beyond – they were ambushed by Kil'jaeden and his demonic minions. Kil'jaeden, who had sworn to take vengeance on Ner'zhul for his prideful defiance, tortured the old shaman mercilessly by slowly tearing his body apart piece by piece. Kil'jaeden kept the shaman's spirit alive and intact – leaving Ner'zhul painfully aware of his body’s gross dismemberment. Though Ner'zhul pleaded with the demon to release his spirit and grant him death, the demon grimly replied that the Blood Pact they had made long ago was still binding – and that he would make use of his wayward pawn once again.
The orcs' failure to conquer Azeroth as the Legion intended forced Kil'jaeden to create a new army to sew chaos throughout the kingdoms of the Alliance. This new army could not be allowed to fall prey to the same petty rivalries and infighting that had plagued the Horde. It would have to be dogged, merciless, and singleminded in its mission. This time, Kil'jaeden could not afford to fail.
Holding Ner'zhul's tortured, helpless spirit in stasis, Kil'jaeden gave him one last chance to serve the Legion or suffer eternal torment. Once again, Ner'zhul recklessly agreed to the demon's pact.
Ner'zhul's spirit was placed within a specially crafted block of diamond-hard ice gathered from the far reaches of the Twisting Nether. Encased within the frozen cask, Ner'zhul felt his consciousness expand ten thousandfold. Warped by the demon's chaotic powers, Ner'zhul became a spectral being of unfathomable power. At that moment, the Orc known as Ner'zhul was shattered forever, and the Lich King was born.
Ner'zhul's loyal Death Knights and warlock followers were also transformed by the demon's chaotic energies. The wicked spellcasters were ripped apart and remade as skeletal Liches. The demons had ensured that even in death, Ner'zhul's followers would serve him unquestioningly.
When the time was right, Kil'jaeden patiently explained the mission for which he had created the Lich King: Ner'zhul was to spread a plague of death and terror across Azeroth that would snuff out Human civilization forever. All those who died from the dreaded plague would arise as the Undead... and their spirits would be bound to Ner'zhul's iron will forever. Kil'jaeden promised that if Ner'zhul accomplished his dark mission of scouring humanity from the world, he would be freed from his curse and granted a new, healthy body to inhabit.
Though Ner'zhul was agreeable and seemingly anxious to play his part, Kil'jaeden remained skeptical of his pawn's loyalties. Keeping the Lich King bodiless and trapped within the crystal cask assured his good conduct for the short term, but the demon knew that he would need to keep a watchful eye on the Lich King. To this end, Kil'jaeden called upon his elite demon guard, the vampiric Dreadlords, to police Ner'zhul and ensure that he accomplished his dread task. Tichondrius, the most powerful and cunning of the Dread Lords, warmed to the challenge, fascinated by the plague's severity and the Lich King's unbridled potential for genocide.
